Howdy from the Rocky Mountains, where the air is thin and filled with romance! 😂 ❤️ I thought it would be fun to send a few pics of the couples in love on our trip, just for fun. And because I happened to have showered and fixed my hair before the pics were taken. Haha.
Here's mom and dad, also known as Ree and Ladd. We went out with the youngsters last night, and we felt like teenagers! Not really, but we had a super good time.
We went to a longtime favorite restaurant in Vail called The Red Lion. It's been here so long, in fact, that when Ladd was a teenager and his family came skiing in Vail, they used to eat there! Ladd and I had fun last night. We requested Eagles songs and sang aloud (off key of course) and had wings (Ladd) and spinach salad (me.)

Alex and Mauricio are so much fun to hang out with---and they enjoy doing so much together. They ski, walk around town, hang with their siblings, and are game for any activity or any conversation. I love these two!!
And then there's Paige and Mitchell. They're dating, not married, but it's been fun to spend time with them for longer than just an hour or two. Paige and Mitchell have both graduated from college this year and are working (and living in separate cities) so they're just trying to figure out life right now...but it's nice to observe their different strengths, and how they interact! (That's Bryce photo bombing.)
And speaking of Bryce...Mitchell is currently rooming with Todd, Bryce, and their friend John Reed. Please keep him in your prayers. Here's a picture of those three. They run in a pack! Bryce has been so busy with football all fall, so we haven't had a whole lot of quality time with him until this trip. It's been fun to dig in and listen to his stories. Bryce makes me laugh more than anyone. He is so...well, a little weird. But so funny, too.
It's been a great trip so far! Ladd and I are relaxed; we always are when we come to Colorado. It's been a long year, man. We've had some great moments, some challenging moments, and fall in particular was a combination of football (high school and college), road trips, lots of ranch work, dry weather, filming, shooting, and of course, going through the loss of Chuck.
Ladd has been skiing every day we've been here, which he hasn't done for at least three or so years, and I think it has put a little spring in his step! I haven't been skiing, which is okay by me. I've just been working on my new cookbook, walking around town, and taking in the family time before we take Todd to college...exactly two weeks from today.
I miss our dogs, but for now I'm going to continue to enjoy the romance in the very thin mountain air!
