Have you jumped on the shacket trend yet? This cross between a shirt and jacket is everywhere lately! If you haven’t heard of it, the shacket looks like a button-down shirt but it’s thick enough to also work as a jacket—and it can easily be worn as both! It’s one of those mash-up fashion trends (like the exercise dress) that we just can’t seem to get enough of.

Neither can Alex Drummond, for that matter! She was recently seen wearing the look while out to lunch with her girlfriends. Alex took to Instagram to share about her afternoon and, at first, it seemed like the massive plate of truffle fries (which appear front and center) would be the highlight of her day. "Truffle fries are the main character," Alex captioned her post. But, as it turns out, her hot pink shacket stole the show!

She wore the bright pink shirt-jacket with denim jeans, white sneakers, and small hoop earrings. And, if you ask us, the cute ensemble would be perfect for a casual Valentine’s Day dinner or a Galentine’s Day party with friends (especially if you need something less fancy than a little black dress). You can even take the look straight into spring thanks to the bright color. That’s what’s so great about shackets—they can be worn all year long!

Some might say that shackets are becoming the new jean jackets—but at the very least, they’re a good alternative for layering over your spring dresses. They’re heavier than your typical shirt but not too heavy to wear on a sunny day, and in chilly weather you can layer a shacket with a sweater and winter coat for extra warmth. Back in November, Alex sported a longer version of the shacket for her family’s Thanksgiving dinner. The plaid print was so cute!

While the exact pink shacket Alex recently wore is out of stock online, you can find the same Zara shacket in white or green and pair it with your favorite pair of jeans. Or look for a shacket that’s right for you—there are tons of bright colors, shapes, and variations to choose from. 🌈
