What will Lawmen: Bass Reeves be about?

The show will center around Bass Reeves, a real-life legendary lawman of the Wild West. The cowboy was the first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi and is known for making over 3,000 arrests without ever being injured. Reeves is also believed to be the inspiration behind the Lone Ranger. (How cool is that?!)

Is there a trailer?

Paramount+ just released the first ever teaser-video for Lawmen: Bass Reeves, and it's just as riveting and enticing as you could have expected. Now, it's only 20 seconds long, but it was still long enough to pack in all sorts of action, battle scenes, and David Oyelowo completely transformed as his character.

British actor David Oyelowo was the first confirmed actor in the series. He will be playing Bass Reeves. He's known for his roles in the acclaimed movies Selma and The Butler.

According to Variety, Hollywood star Dennis Quaid will take on the role of Deputy U.S. Marshall, Sherrill Lynn. While Quaid has previously starred in a few television shows, we're used to seeing him in blockbuster movies since the 1970's, such as The Big Easy, The Parent Trap, and The Day After Tomorrow.

Where did filming take place?

According to The Dallas Morning News, many scenes of Lawmen: Bass Reeves took place in North Texas, specifically Fort Worth, Glen Rose, Weatherford, Stephenville and Strawn.

Also, an Instagram post made by Yellowstone star Denim Richards shows numerous actors (including Oyelowo) at Bosque Ranch in Bosque County, Texas. The location was used for certain scenes in Yellowstone and 1883, so it seems likely that it will also be featured in Lawmen: Bass Reeves. (Side note: We are not okay after this photo.)
