Alright, loyal watchers of Yellowstone—after a long season 5 hiatus, we finally have some answers for you.

After watching the mid-season finale back in January, we were all left wanting answers. (Taylor Sheridan just loves to keep us on our toes!) Like, now that Rip's no longer in charge, will Kayce succeed in taking over the family ranch? Or, how would the ongoing battle between Jamie and John play out? Plus, we all saw Beth uncover some family secrets. What will she do with that knowledge?

While we might have to wait until Yellowstone returns to find out some of these answers, what we do know is that Yellowstone will be airing part 2 of season 5 in the not so distant future—and that the hit Western show will be officially ending at the close of the season (more on that later)!

Read on for all the details we know about Yellowstone season 5, including updates about when the series will return, cast news, spoilers, and more.

When will Yellowstone season 5 return?

In a statement released on May 5, Paramount announced that part 2 of Yellowstone season 5 will officially return to our screens in November 2023—marking it the end of the show's five season run. Yep—that's it, y'all! 😢 But we know that in true Taylor Sheridan fashion, the series finale will be one for the books.

On another note, Paramount also announced an untitled sequel series (potentially starring Matthew McConaughey), that will see the continuation of the Yellowstone story—hopefully with some of the original Yellowstone cast we all love. The new series will premiere in December, immediately taking over the Yellowstone storyline. (So if you were sad at the initial news, you at least have this to look forward to!)

Did the original Yellowstone cast return?

Before season 5 premiered, Cole Hauser—known to fans as Rip Wheeler—dropped a few major hints about the show. In an interview last year with HALL Wines, Cole revealed details about who's going to be part of the upcoming season.

"For us as actors—and I think I can speak for everybody, even including Kevin, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Luke Grimes, Gil Birmingham—you know, everybody is a part of it," he said. "We come together. This is now going into our fifth year, so we come together as a family.
