The Outsiders musical is officially heading to Broadway!
The iconic '80s movie originally starring C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze and Ralph Macchio, quickly became a staple cult classic. But now, the coming-of-age drama (which is based on S.E. Hinton’s hit 1967 novel) will be heading to the big stage—giving more fans a chance to see it live!
The news of The Outsiders heading to Broadway should be exciting to Ree Drummond, too! In a social media post made back in 2018, she jokingly admitted to watching the film over "10,000 times!" 😂
It makes sense, since she's a fan of '80s movies—and this one just happens to be a movie set in Oklahoma, which is where she lives and films The Pioneer Woman show!
Broadway previews of the The Outsiders will start on March 16, 2024 over at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre and the official opening night for the show will be on April 11, 2024.
Right now, there is no confirmation on who will be in the cast, though we do know that Academy Award-winning actress, Angelina Jolie is said to be a lead producer of the broadway production of The Outsiders musical.
"I feel very fortunate to be a part of this special production," Jolie said in a statement. "I can’t begin to express how excited I am for this musical to make its Broadway debut and look forward to sharing this new adaptation of The Outsiders with the world."
